Here are a few pieces that I've written during my academic career at the University of Toronto.


UNDERGRADUATE

1) Debugging Artificial Intelligence

Description: a critical overview of the major philosophical positions in the field of A.I., followed by a synthesis of these views that provides a modern stance on human and artificial intelligence.

2) Embodiment without Intelligence

Description: a discussion of embodiment and representation in cognition and a critical evaluation of the behaviour-based model of intelligence, as exemplified by the work of Rodney Brooks.

3) A Theory of Wisdom as the Desire and Ability to Questions Beliefs

Description: an examination of existing theories concerning wisdom in human cognition and an integration of these theories into a broader hypothesis that focuses on human knowledge and epistemic boundaries.

4) Slavic Paganism in Kievan Russia and the Coming of Christianity

Description: a survey of pagan beliefs in Kievan Russia before the coming of Orthodoxy, followed by a look at the process of Christianization and the challenges faced during the replacement of the old pagan culture.

5) A Trip to Mexico: CIA Involvement in the JFK Assassination

Description: a look at the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and a discussion of the possibility of conspiracy involving the Central Intelligence Agency and their link to the alleged killer - Lee Harvey Oswald.

6) Terrorism Aims at a Younger Target

Description: this is NOT an essay, but rather a short piece of journalism that I wrote for RussianToronto.com about the Beslan tragedy that happened in 2001.
